What Is Flame Cremation?

At Price Helton Funeral Home, we offer fire cremation as a respectful and cost-effective option for families saying goodbye to their loved ones. Fire cremation is where the deceased is placed in a container and exposed to high temperatures until only ashes remain. This allows families to handle their loved ones remains in a more personalized way, including scattering ashes or placing them in an urn.

If you’re wondering how much cremation services are, Price Helton Funeral Home offers affordable and transparent pricing, and our compassionate staff can provide a personalized quote based on your preferences. Our flameless cremation cost is also available for those concerned about the environmental impact of traditional flame cremation. At Price Helton Funeral Home, we’re committed to providing respectful and personalized cremation services at an affordable price.

Must I Hire a Funeral Director?

In the state of Washington, you must have a funeral director sign the death certificate; nobody else can legally perform this action.

However, a funeral director can provide a wealth of services and benefits. Funeral directors are experienced professionals well-versed in the legal and logistical requirements of funeral planning, from obtaining the necessary certificates to coordinating with the cemetery and clergy. They can also help with other details, such as selecting a casket or urn, arranging transportation, ordering flowers and notifying loved ones of the service.

Perhaps most importantly, a funeral director is invaluable when offering emotional support and aid during the funeral process. They approach even the most delicate circumstances with sensitivity and care so you and your family can devote yourselves to grieving instead of worrying about the details.

Is a Casket Required?

You aren’t legally required to have a casket for cremation, just an alternative container. An alternative container must be rigid and covered. Options in place of a traditional casket include a simple cardboard container, a cloth-covered container.

However, a casket may be a good idea if you choose to have a viewing or service before the cremation. In that case, you can rent a casket or purchase a less expensive one for viewing only. The option to use a casket for cremation is up to the family. Our staff is here to provide guidance and options so you can decide what feels right for you during this difficult time.

Can a Casket Be Rented for Viewing?

Yes, a casket can be rented for viewing at Price Helton Funeral Home. Some families prefer to have a traditional open casket viewing as a way to say their final goodbyes to their loved ones. That’s why we offer casket rentals.

Our casket rental options vary in price depending on the specific style and features you choose. We have a variety of caskets available in different materials and finishes to accommodate your preferences and budget. We help to select the appropriate casket and other funeral-related items to help you create a meaningful and personalized service for your loved one.

How Much Does Flame Cremation Cost?

Price Helton Funeral Home offers four flame-based cremation options to accommodate various preferences and budgets.

Our most affordable option is Direct Cremation, starting at just $995, or $21 monthly. This simple, no-frills option does not include a public viewing or ceremony, but does include an alternative container and a plastic urn. If you prefer a private family viewing before the cremation, we offer the Simple Goodbye Cremation for $1,995, or $42 monthly.

We offer two options for those who wish to have a ceremony following the cremation. The Cremation Followed by Memorial Ceremony, which is priced at $2,995 or $62 per month, includes a public gathering at a different facility before the ceremony.

The Funeral Ceremony Followed by the Cremation, which is priced at $4,195, or $89 per month, includes a public viewing the day before the ceremony at another facility. At Price Helton Funeral Home, we believe in transparency, including regarding pricing, and we want to help you plan a service that best reflects your loved one’s life and personality.

How Can I Transport the Remains?

Cremated remains can be mailed or carried by hand to their final destination. If you opt for mailing, the remains must be placed in an inner container within a padded outer container to ensure safe delivery.

If you plan to carry the remains on a plane, you should leave them in the box just as they came from the crematory, with the official documents attached. Security will X-ray the urn, so a nonmetal container is needed. We can help guide you through the process if you need to transport cremated remains.

USPS is the only method available to ship cremated remains other than airplanes. UPS, FedEx and DHL will not ship cremated remains. Selecting the right place for that experience to take place is important. You’ll find our funeral home to be warm, inviting and adaptable to most families’ wishes and needs. We’re at your service. Please call, email, or submit our contact form anytime.
