Obituary Charles R Faulders, Sr. Charles Richard Faulders also known as ""Sarge"" and ""Pop"" passed peacefully in his sleep May 14 at his home in Bonney Lake, Washington after a long battle with heart and lung disease. He was born on May 9, 1936, in Hagerstown, Maryland to Hubert and Margaret Faulders. He married his childhood sweetheart June 6, 1953. They were happily married 56 years before her passing in 2009. They travelled the United States while he was in the Air Force and their 4 children were born in different states. His military career began in 1953 when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, as a Radio Operator. He spent 2 years with the Marine Corps before he found his true passion as a Security Officer in the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1955. He would rank MSGT when he retired after 20 years of service in 1975. Charles would often recall his favorite childhood gift was his 1st bicycle. His love of 2 wheels followed him through his career as a Motorcycle Officer and one of his proudest moments was a Military Escort for President Eisenhower in Hawaii. After retirement from the USAF, he spent over 20 years working for AJ Dimond High School in Anchorage, Alaska. He started there in the ROTC as an instructor. That is where he became known as ""Sarge"". Then he became a Security Officer and spent his days patrolling the school halls and making genuine connections with the teens. After retiring, his love for the service and those who served called him to volunteer with the USO for ten years in Washington. His compassion also led him to volunteer at Virginia Mason Hospital. He is survived by Peggy (& Bob) Heidenfeldt, Patty Hardy, Charles (& Karen) Faulders, and Dottie McDole. He is also survived by sisters Maxine Bennett (and her daughter Alicia Jones) and Teresa Hamm and 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Graveside Service will be Wednesday, May 22 at 2 pm at the Tahoma Military Cemetery in Covington with Pastor Steve Wilhite officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held June 8 in Bonney Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Hospice or the American Lung Association in his name.
