Obituary For Claire Ostrowski

Claire Ostrowski 3/11/1948-8/16/2023

Claire was born in Switzerland to Isidor and Helen Grossfeld. Her family eventually migrated to New York where she lived until 1982.

Claire met and married the love of her life in New York and married Walter Ostrowski on December 30, 1967. Claire and Walter had 3 daughters.

Due to Walters job, the Ostrowski family moved to Auburn Washington in 1982. Those of you who knew Claire, knew she hated it here for the longest time.

After Walter passed way in August of 1983, Claire raised her daughters on her own, while becoming a Real Estate Agent. This was the best job for Claire as you all know, she loved to talk.

As Claire's daughters grew up, they made many friends along the way, and Claire always welcomed them with open arms. Many of Claire's daughters friends grew to call her mom. Claire was very supportive of her daughters and her friends. Her daughters friends enjoyed Claire, as they always knew she would say what was on her mind. Claire's favorite phrase was "Kapeesh!"

Claire was also known as meme, her favorite name to go by. There was nothing she loved more than being a meme. She never missed an event of her grandchildren, and she loved to have baking days with many of her grandkids. If they couldn't be here to enjoy her treats, she would send them in the mail to wherever they were.

Claire is survived by her 3 daughters, Donna (Ernie) Pratt, Debra Bodus, and Stephanie (Eli) Liske. Her 7 grandchildren, John Walter (Tasha), Meagan (Taylor), Madison, Drake, Aiden (Madi), Tori (Stephanus) and Nikki and her 4 great grandchildren JJ, Liam, Paislee. and Hope.

Claire will be missed more than words can describe.

Claire was preceded in death by her husband Walter Ostrowski and her parents Isidor and Helen Grossfeld.

There will be a celebration of life at We are Calgary Church in Sumner (15116 Gary Street East) on September 22, 2023 starting at 12pm with a small service and time afterwards to enjoy treats and share stories of this wonderful lady who has sadly left us.

Claire and I were neighbors and friends. We met in the summer of '88. Stayed neighbors for 5 years but friends for a lifetime. There are so many stories...but a few to highlight. When I moved into her neighborhood, she welcomed me with such open arms as did her beautiful daughters. My family was all out of state and all the Ostrowskis became family to my family. I won't mention the party night when I first met the family. There was a funny phone number, and Claire and Steph were out of town. We would talk for hours on the phone even though we lived right across the street from each other. I'd watch her out my window picking weeds, we'd laugh and wave and continue to talk on the phone. I loved the way she said, "Long Island" - I hear her voice anytime anyone says that city name. To this day, I only say "Long Island" the Claire way. Claire leaves behind a very large tribe. A tribe filled with beauty, humor, and lots of love. She did hate Auburn in the beginning but loved her family so much more that she never went back to NYC. But NYC city stayed with her - You made a big impact Claire and you and your laughter will be missed but no doubt I'll see you in the city lights again soon. Love, Amy McCammon
