Obituary For Cramer Thomas Helton
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Cramer Thomas Helton, on April 3, 2021. Cramer was born May 11, 1994, in Wichita, Kansas, to Craig Helton and Melissa Heutmaker.
From a young age, Cramer seemed to take on all new things with ease. He was active, athletic and fearless. Cramer wrestled, played baseball, football, and soccer.
Cramer attended WSU for a year before deciding that his true passion was music. He enrolled in Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Arizona, where he excelled in a music production program. He then took a job at a recording studio in LA, which gave him great experience and we often would hear stories about the various artists he had the opportunity to meet.
When he moved back to Washington, he took on a few different jobs before landing at Kanon Electric as an apprentice, a place where he felt welcomed and at home, and met some great people.
Cramer was an adored uncle. Over the years, he reluctantly played Barbie’s or tag, talked in various funny voices, and even agreed to babysit in hour intervals (where no diaper changing was involved). He loved a good party and spending time with his friends. He liked to golf and snowboard on his Fridays off. During the summer, he spent, as much time on the lake as he could, whether it was listening to music on the boat or surfing, he loved the sunshine.
As many of us know and experienced, Cramer enjoyed having philosophical conversations with anyone who would listen. He had a way of showing vulnerability to those around him that made people feel close to him. And if anyone was willing to engage a good old fashion debate, Cramer would never decline.
Cramer was very close with his best friend Jake and Jake’s mom Rhonda. This poem came from Jake’s uncle and something Cramer had expressed he wanted as a tattoo. It seems appropriate to include it here, as it was meaningful to him.
What we are never changes
Who we are is always changing
Always look forward
Never look back
We will remember Cramer for his warm smile and ability to connect to others. Although the pain of not having him here is unbearable, we will feel at peace with those thoughts that he is at his happiest and best wherever he is. We cannot wait to see you again buddy.
Cramer is survived by his parents, Craig Helton and Melissa Heutmaker, his sisters, Brittany McCraw and Hannah Flint. His brother in laws Mike McCraw and Justin Flint. His nieces and nephews; Rylan, Jaxon, Parker, and Blake. Cramer was fortunate to still have his paternal and maternal grandparents; Jack and Sharon Helton, and Norm and Sheila Heutmaker. He also will be very missed by all his aunts, uncles, and cousins; who were lifelong friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 17th at 5pm at the 25001 Sumner Buckley Hwy, Buckley, WA 98321.
Cramer’s ashes will be spread in Wheeler, TX on his grandparent’s ranch. It was a special place to him and somewhere he always felt at home. There will also be a niche at the Hillcrest cemetery in Kent as a place to remember Cramer.
