Obituary For Harold Lapthorne

Obituary Harold William Lapthorne, Jr, age 86, passed away peacefully on the evening of April 2, 2019. Scott, as he was known by family and friends, was born on November 15, 1932 in Jerome, Arizona to Harold and Isabel Lapthorne. In 1941 Scott's parents moved the family to Puget Sound, first living in Bremerton, then to Renton-Skyway area in 1946. As a young man he attended and in 1950 graduated from Renton Senior High School. He met the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Geri, at the local community center. Scott worked at the local gas station while Geri attended high school. In 1952, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp, stationed in California working as an air traffic controller. On March 13, 1954 in Reno NV, he and Geri were married. Upon completion of his military service the family moved back to Washington, bought a home in Auburn and Scott went to work for the Boeing Co. as a tool and die maker. Early on he moved into a supervisory position where he was presented numerous awards for his outstanding performance. He finished his career of 43 yrs with Boeing as a vendor representative, assisting independent manufacturers who built tools and dies for Boeing aircraft. In the early years, Scott & Geri were members of JCs and Elks, and both were avid bowlers. Scott took up skiing about the age of 40, and continued to ski into his 50s. He also spent many years building & flying RC airplanes. Yet another passion was fishing; he took numerous trips to Jameson Lake in pursuit of the wily rainbow trout. Scott also enjoyed photography and attending air shows, often combining the two pursuits. Scott is survived by his children; Pamela Caswell, Roger (Penny Sue) Lapthorne, Robert Lapthorne, Penny Tingstad; brother Donald Lapthorne, sister Linda Calvin; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and his beloved little dog Crosby.
