Obituary For Jesse P Stewart

Obituary In loving memory of Jesse P Stewart, 90 years old. Jesse was born June 9, 1928 in Waldron, Arkansas, son of Thomas Benjamin Stewart and Ora Abbott . When he was 16, he moved to California with his family where he graduated from Whittier High School. He joined the Navy October, 1947 after a friend talked him into it because they needed a pitcher for their baseball team. His lov In loving memory of Jesse P Stewart, 90 years old. Jesse was born June 9, 1928 in Waldron, Arkansas, son of Thomas Benjamin Stewart and Ora Abbott . When he was 16, he moved to California with his family where he graduated from Whittier High School. He joined the Navy October, 1947 after a friend talked him into it because they needed a pitcher for their baseball team. His love for baseball was with him all his life and he was an avid fan and supporter of the Mariners baseball team. He was stationed at Los Alamitos Naval Station for most of his Navy Career. He married Doris Fosdick in Yuma, Arizona May 5th, 1950. In 1963 the Navy transferred him to Seattle, Washington, where he retired in April 1967 after spending 20 years in the Navy. Jesse passed away May 4th, 2019 in Reno, Nevada, while he was on a trip to participate in a chess tournament. His love for Chess took him to Las Vegas and Reno for Chess tournaments, and he was always looking for someone brave enough to play chess with him! He was the Los Alamitos base chess champion at one time. He loved his family and he was always available for help if you needed it. His love for the Horse Races always kept him close to a racetrack. When he wasn't able to visit the racetrack anymore he continued his handicapping by way of the television. He is survived by his children, Susan Simon (Wil), Ken Stewart (Mari), Randy Stewart, Carol Thompson (Ron); grandchildren, Joel Simon (Ali), Nathan Simon (Amy), Frank (Elisa) Thompson , Justin Stewart, and Dr. Kristine Stewart (Faisal Hameed); and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Stewart and his 3 brothers and 2 sisters. In loving memory of Jesse P Stewart, 90 years old.
