Obituary For Paul Arthur Bergen
Paul Arthur Bergen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on May 23, 1935, in Oakland, California, Paul moved to Washington in 1949. His journey led him through a distinguished path that included schooling, military service in Europe, and Southern California, where he graduated in 1961 from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Professional Arts degree in Illustration.
Paul was a renowned illustrator, contributing his talents to prominent companies such as Weyerhaeuser, Budweiser, Road & Track, and Car Life magazines, among others. He had a passion for motorsports, particularly Formula One racing, and did his fair share of drag racing. He had a great fondness for collecting and repairing slot machines, pinballs, and video games. He enjoyed football and baseball and was an avid Dodgers fan. Paul lived life on his own terms and will be forever remembered for his love and devotion to his family, kindness, art, creativity, storytelling ability, sense of humor and love of animals. Paul made a lasting impression on everyone who was lucky enough to know him. He was truly one of kind.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Pam; loving children, Scott (Robin) Bergen, Laura (Jarrod) Olson, Russ (Christy) Bergen; and cherished grandchildren, Cameron, Travis, and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his beautiful granddaughter Kaylie, and his parents Alexia and Arthur.
Memorial services will be held on September 24th at 11:30 AM at Sumner Voiles Funeral Chapel, 15124 Main St E, Sumner, WA 98390, followed by a military committal service at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA 98042.
