Obituary For Robert Derrell Poldervart
Sunmer, WA (formerly of Quincy, WA) Robert “Bob” Derrell Poldervart, born July 6, 1939, passed away on August 5, 2022. He passed away in Sumner, WA, at the Memory Haven Care facility, due to vascular dementia. Bob was born in Burlington, WA, to Richard and Belva Poldervart. He grew up with his brother, Jim and sisters, Sylvia and Shirley. He was raised on a dairy farm in the Burlington area. Later, he and his family moved to Quincy, WA, where he attended Quincy High School and participated in football and wrestling. Bob was the first wrestler from Quincy to qualify for state, where he finished 2nd his senior year. It was there that he met, Mary, fell in love and was married for 61 years. Bob and Mary attended Western Washington University, where both studied education and became teachers. His first teaching position was as a sixth grade teacher in Quincy, WA. Teaching led them to Auburn, WA, where he was hired as a math teacher, later becoming vice-principal, principal and an administrator, with Auburn School District for 38 of his 39 years in education. Love for his job, was only surpassed by love for his family. Bob loved spending time with his family at their lake property. He was a man of few words and showed love for his family through his constant and dependable presence and support. No need was too big or too small, he was always calm and reassuring. He is survived by his wife, Mary N. Poldervart; son, Steven E. Poldervart and his wife, Sherri; daughters: Pamela D. Poldervart and her son, A.J., Lara J. Lynch and her husband, Joe and their daughters, Kali Jo and Taryn Belle; and great grandchildren, KaMyah, Lincoln and Willow. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 410 H St., NE, Auburn, WA, 98002. Donations may be made in Bob's name, to The Alzheimer's Association. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
