Obituary For Wayne Donald Townley

Wayne Donald Townley, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in Auburn, Washington. He was born in Wenatchee, Washington, and lived a life full of love, dedication, and service. Wayne is survived by his wife, Betty Townley, his three children, Kimberlie, Steve, and Brian Townley, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two half-sisters, and three cousins.

After graduating from Marshfield High School in Coos Bay, Oregon, Wayne proudly served in the United States Navy from October 5, 1966, to October 4, 1972. He was a Radarman aboard the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier. His commendations included the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Korea, and a Presidential Unit Citation. Wayne also completed numerous educational and training courses, including basic electricity and electronics and advanced radar operations.

Wayne’s career spanned several roles, beginning as an insurance agent for Mutual of Omaha Insurance. He later worked as an operating and maintenance worker at the Masonic Home of Washington Retirement Home in Des Moines, WA, and as a steam engineer at Mt. St. Vincent. Wayne eventually retired after a fulfilling career.

Wayne had a passion for photography and loved capturing life’s precious moments. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying soccer and softball for many years and never missing his wife’s or grandchildren's sporting events. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, and camping, and was known to entertain friends with his singing and playing. He had a special love for the rain, often finding peace and joy in its presence.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering dedication to his family, and his profound appreciation for life's simple joys.
