Alma was born 9/12/1924 in Coleharbor, North Dakota. Shortly
after her birth the family moved to Benedict North Dakota where
the family set up home and the 11 children were raised. Alma was
the 6th child of 11 children but the 1 st born girl. With the first born
girl came many responsibilities and chores.
On October 19, 1947 Alma married John Schumaier. They had 4
children and lived in Garrison, North Dakota. In 1960 they moved
to Salem Oregon and she worked at a canary. In 1963 they moved
to Auburn. Alma worked as a cook at Cascade Jr. High until 1976
when they moved to Whitefish Montana where they bought and
operated a Coast-to-Coast store. They retired in 1982 and moved
back to Auburn to be closer to family and friends. Alma was active
in her church and she and John were active with North Dakota
dance groups, dancing almost every weekend until John's passing
